Dutch privacy watchdog to launch investigation into China’s DeepSeek AI

The Netherlands ‘ privacy watchdog AP on Friday announced it would look into the data collection techniques of Chinese artificial intelligence company DeepSeek and urged Dutch people to be wary of using the software.

” The AP is ( issuing this ) warning because of the serious concerns that there are over DeepSeek’s privacy policies… and the way in which it appears to use personal information”, Chairman Aleid Wolfsen said in a statement. The organization added that DeepSeek must follow strict guidelines for the storage of personal data of European citizens overseas.

The French announcement comes in response to Italy’s decision on Thursday to stop DeepSeek’s app due to privacy concerns. Ireland and France have both contacted DeepSeek to find out about its data processing methods.
