Law enforcement officials are posing a fundamental inquiry, only like their counterparts in state and business:” What does law enforcement look like in the era of AI”?
This is a difficult and essential question to ask. Some in law enforcement see AI as a game-changer. A powerful complement to individual intelligence, AI excels at deductive reasoning, problem-solving and violence research at speed and scale.
But AI doesn’t address all of law enforcement’s problems. There must be understood and explored before any conclusions can be drawn.
In the age of AI, ensuring the safety and protection of our people requires that we use AI’s full potential, as with any technology, by using it for what it does best: processing large amounts of data quickly and detecting patterns to open up humans for what we do best: making subtle judgments in difficult situations.
